Mystic Fish Camp
Fresh-Caught Flavor in the Heart of Historic Downtown Mystic
Mystic Fish Camp
Tucked into downtown Mystic just steps from the iconic Bascule Bridge, Mystic Fish Camp brings the fish shack back to life with a playful, 1970s-summer-camp twist. Grab a window seat, pull up to the counter, or take your feast down to the river — this is New England coastal dining the way it used to feel.
About Us
Led by James Beard Award-winning chef David Standridge, our menu runs on 100% sustainable, local, wild-caught seafood — hand-cut fries fried crisp, fish fried daily in beef tallow, and bold flavors built from whatever the water gives us that week. Nothing here is an afterthought, right down to the tartar sauce.

This is just a fun, fantastic stop with really great new renditions on old seafood classics with sustainability kept in mind. First off - food flavor and preparation is fantastic. This is casual dining, but you’ll find a wide range of things to try. Our group had the fish patty sandwich (made with ling on date of ... visit), hot poor man’s lobster roll and clam strips. We got fries with all. The fries are fresh made strong, with a salty spicy seasoning on them. Malt vinegar is available on all tables. Everyone raves about their food and portions were generous. A variety of beverages are available, along with some frozen ones. Dessert looks fantastic (dark chocolate s’more), but we were too full to try. The ambience is embracing a kitschy, 80’s Oceanside summer camp theme. Staff are friendly, efficient and happy to help you decide on a dinner option. We’ll be back. Often. Maybe for a takeout park meal in the summer as seating is limited, but it will be worth it. Read More
What a fantastic place! The fried fish sandwich was crispy and delicate with a unique jalapeño aioli sauce. My husband said the fish patty had a great flavor and my son wanted a second burger! The beef tallow fries are a real find and the onion rings were delicious and I don’t even tend to like onion rings. Add in a ... rustic and charming decor, friendly staff (the chef is approachable!) and little extras like Vietnamese Coffee and cane sugar soda—makes this a spot to choose when you’re on the Connecticut shoreline. Absolutely delicious! Our first time here, and we ordered the Swordfish Banh Mi box. We asked to swap the fries for either salad or coconut rice, and House Lemonade was included. Plus, the kids enjoyed the seared whiting with fries. Thanks, Kimberly!
